Wim van Eck (PhD candidate) is a media artist/researcher based in Leiden (The Netherlands). He teaches at the Royal Academy of Art (The Hague) at the Interactive Media Design and Fine Arts departments. He is a PhD candidate at Leiden University, where he studies organism incorporated computer games. Furthermore, his company WIMECK develops new media projects and 3D-animations. Educated as a game designer and researcher, he specializes in augmented reality, virtual reality and organism incorporated computer games.

Wim published several scientific articles in, among others, Leonardo Journal of Arts, Sciences and Technology, the IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality and the International Conference on Intelligent Technologies for Interactive Entertainment. He designed and developed installations for renowned Dutch museums and gave presentations at, among others, the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) symposium and the MuseumNext conference. Furthermore, numerous magazines and blogs such as Engadet, New Scientist, EDGE magazine, We Make Money Not Art, PC Gamer and FHM wrote about his projects.
